Volunteer Driving Shifts
Help Guide Dogs Queensland get everything where it needs to be for our community events and fundraising activities.
Our Volunteer Drivers help transport merchandise, tables and event equipment between our Bald Hills campus and event locations across the community.
What you'll do
Depending on the shift, you may help with:Event setup:
Collecting merchandise, tables and equipment from our Bald Hills campus, usually the business day before an event
Transporting everything to the event location on the morning of the event
Helping unload the vehicle and set up tables and merchandise
Event pack-down
Collecting merchandise and equipment from an event once it has finished
Storing items securely in the vehicle overnight, where required
Returning merchandise, tables and equipment to our Bald Hills campus on the next business day
Using a vehicle
You may be able to use a Guide Dogs Queensland vehicle for your driving shift.
If using a Guide Dogs Queensland vehicle, you'll need to allow additional time to collect and return the vehicle to our Bald Hills campus.
If using your own vehicle:
Your vehicle will need to be large enough to safely transport the required merchandise, tables and equipment
Fuel costs associated with the volunteer shift will be reimbursed by Guide Dogs Queensland
A few things to know
A Police Check may be required for this role. If required, Guide Dogs Queensland will arrange and cover the cost
Driving and shift times will vary depending on the event location, traffic and what needs to be transported
Some shifts may involve both driving and helping with basic event set-up or pack-down
